The Church of Portland Serving the Community

Portland Food Bank is a registered charity (No. 1194428) serving the community of Portland, Dorset. We are operated by the Church of Portland and exist to provide emergency food support to those who need it most — regardless of faith, background, or circumstance.

We believe that everyone deserves to eat. Our team of volunteers works hard to ensure that no one in Portland goes without food.

What drives us

Our Ethos

"Portland Foodbank is committed to an ethos based upon the understanding that God is love, He is good, and He loves the world. Christ has commanded we love Him first and then our neighbour as ourselves. All we do comes from that basic understanding and motivates us to share the good news of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection as the way of obtaining a relationship with God. Portland Foodbank is but one expression of God's love for people through which we aim to open doors for the good news into the hearts of anyone who will receive it."

While Portland Food Bank is rooted in the Christian faith of the Church of Portland, we serve everyone in the community regardless of faith, background, or circumstances. Our help is offered unconditionally to all who need it.

What we exist to do

Our Charitable Objects

The prevention and relief of poverty by the provision of:

Emergency Food Provision

Emergency supplies of food to individuals, families, and distributing organisations in need.

(B)

Support & Signposting

Provision of support services and signposting to relevant advisory resources to help address the root causes of poverty.
